Q&A: Guru – One or Many?

Q – Guruji, in 2003, for the first time in my life I could meet a physical Guru. He had a particular path that involved chanting the divine name of the Lord to get rid of our vasanas (karmic impressions) and by the power of the divine name reach divinity. So, that was very much acceptable with my mental condition and I was initiated by him and I have been chanting this mantra. Later on, I met another person who was a psychic medium who received messages from Shirdi Sai Baba. The question in my mind is the scripture says that catch hold of One Guru, one path, one Marga. First, when I met my Guru it was the initiation of the mantra, the apt path in this yuga, so I started to do that. Second, I started to take Baba’s treatment for the simple reason that if this physical form is ok, then only we can contemplate on the Lord. So I acknowledged Baba’s concept that if you have doshas in your system then you may not be in a position to reach the divine because the concentration will be on your body than on the force. So, it was very much convincing for me and I took that. I have been sincere in whatever I am trying to do. Now this new path of meditation has come without my invitation. So, is it right for me to take up the multiple paths to reach Him? Or is it also in the scheme of divinity for me to acknowledge these things and move forward?

Answer – Firstly, I wish to thank you for this question which you have asked, which is not only going to be of help to you but for thousands of people who will come seeking Me in this form. Many will have this question to ask Me.

To answer this, I will first tell you a few physical level examples for each of you to understand at this point in time. First, you are enrolled in school. Each of you is taught simple basic mathematics, science, english, various languages. The very basics, the foundation of mathematics is laid in front of you after which you are taken to the further ahead standards, promoted class by class. As gradually this increases to include algebra, geometry, further to include integration, derivation and the complexities of mathematics. But, look for the simile in this. Human mind has been told, human beings in the society have been told you should specialise in one subject, which is why as the children progress in school their subjects are narrowed down. After school, in college they choose between commerce, science and arts. Once they go beyond, they have to choose, within science the path of engineering, the path of biology, the path of medicine, etc. Specialisation has been the zone of mankind. This is because each of you has been told that the human mind can function to its best capabilities only if it is focussed on one thing, which is true to a certain extent in the physical plane. If you wish to apply this to the spiritual plane, everything will go haywire.

This phenomenon of specialisation in one subject is a human gift to mankind, not a divine gift. The various Gurus who have entered your life in different phases, in different situations is a divine gift to mankind, not a human gift. The divine gift is just to tell you that humanity, the human body, the human soul is all inclusive, it is not exclusive. If you wish to be treated for an earache you have to go to an ENT specialist. If you wish to get a stomach ache treated you have to go to a gastroenterologist. If you go to a gynaecologist the doctor will just laugh at you on your face and refer you to a gastroenterologist, isn’t it?

This is because the human consciousness has no limitations but for those limitations which have been imposed by the human mind on the society, by the society on the human mind. It works both ways. This limitation is with which you all have grown up in society, each and every one of you. This limitation is what has told you that there cannot be more than one guru in your life, because these limitations have told – more than one means a confusion. A student of arts, if he were to do accounts, he will go crazy; a student of science if he were to get into arts would go crazy, is the human society’s misconception.

Every time if somebody chooses to do something different, the humans have a tendency to label them as a one-off case, ‘that’s a gifted person’. I feel sorry that I am having to say this, the whole of humanity is gifted. However, each of you has chosen to segregate those gifts to certain people because the rest of you are just too bored to pursue to receive that gift from the divine consciousness for yourselves. You chose to accept that someone is a special person (referring to the medium) because she can speak to Baba. So, thereby taking away from the fact that you can be inspired to be like her. This is just a small random example I wish to quote here. This takes off the responsibility from each of you to become better individuals in society and better human beings from within yourselves as you go closer to the divinity within yourselves.

If you wish to choose to apply limitations, your experience shall be limited in spirituality. All that which you see, the various forms, the various people I speak through, the various powers which communicate the Universal word to you in different forms are but one and the same. Each of you perceives it differently purely because you have trained your mind to see it in that manner. You have been trained by society to worship a certain power, a certain form, which is why the Universal Consciousness uses that small gateway which you have given it, to access you, because Universal Consciousness has just love for you. It doesn’t care which doorway you access to reach it, which is why I choose to enter through every single possible door I get, to each one of you. So you will see me coming in different doors, all at the same time sometimes for some of you. The doors may be different, but the source of light which is entering through those doors is the same. This is for each one of you to understand. I wish for each of you to understand, if you are in darkness and you open a door towards the light, the source of light will just be one; that shall be the sun, or solar energy. There shall not be different suns. The doors are different, the sun, the source of that energy is the same. Please, each and every one of you, please understand this point. Do not differentiate the source. It makes no difference to us. It makes a huge difference to each of you. See that the doorways which you have opened to let the sunlight to come into your darkness are different and the funniest part is, these doorways are also not built by you. These doorways are built by those compassionate Gurus who chose you as disciples to let you be able to see a glimpse of what that divine energy can bring into your lives through different mediums.

If you are capable of surrendering enough to Me, for an example I quote, I shall make sure the form, the treatment, the divine consciousness experience, everything can happen from within you. However, until the point where you reach there, I wish for you to take the support of these torch bearers, who have chosen to be My torch bearers, to show you the path which will ultimately lead you to the same source of energy, which is the sun. So please understand this, and I am extremely happy that this question has come forth so soon in my series of sessions, which wasn’t scheduled to come up so fast. Thank you.
